How has WCPSS market share fared over the years, as school options have increased?

A long view shows – pretty well. Over the last 14 years, consistently more than 80 percent of all students in Wake County have attended WCPSS schools. This includes a high of 84.8 percent in 2001 and a low of 82.5 percent in 2014.

How does this compare with other large districts in NC? For the 2013-2014 school year, Wake had the smallest percentage of students attending charter schools, the greatest percentage of students attending home schools, and is in the middle of the pack for percentages of students in private and district schools.
