Three Wake County business leaders were recently selected to serve as the newest members of Wake Education Partnership’s Board of Directors. Those selected for the three-year appointments are:

  • Paula Fryland, regional president for PNC Bank, Eastern Carolinas region.
  • Mitch Lower, Director, In-sourcing & Alliance Management at Biogen Idec.
  • Steven Slee, Team Lead at Fifth Third Bank, Raleigh.

As regional president for PNC Bank, Eastern Carolinas region, Paula Fryland is responsible for PNC’s Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Wealth Management and Institutional Investments businesses across Eastern Carolina. Prior to being named to her current position, Ms. Fryland was executive vice president and head of PNC Healthcare within Corporate & Institutional Banking.

Mitch Lower is responsible for in-bound alliances, which account for a significant portion of the activities at Biogen Idec’s RTP Site. Mitch is a member of the Site Operations Management team who oversees operations within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain activities. Previous roles at Biogen Idec include Global Infrastructure Planning, Corporate Business Continuity Management and various global engineering roles over his 16 years with the company.

Steven Slee serves Middle Market Clients for Fifth Third Bank in several capacities including both sales and management roles. His career spans 14 years – all with Fifth Third Bank.  In addition to Middle Market, he led a $1 Billion Commercial Real Estate Team for Fifth Third in the Midwest.

The terms for the newest directors of Wake Education Partnership begin immediately.
