RALEIGH –Wake County public school teachers and other full-time support personnel are invited to apply for a Food for Thought grant from Wake Education Partnership. Teachers can apply for the grants, which will be awarded in amounts up to $2,000, through March 28 on the Partnership’s website at www.WakeEd.org.

Since 1983, Wake Education Partnership has awarded more than $1 million in grants to Wake County public school teachers and support personnel through the Food for Thought program. The grants provide opportunities for teachers to challenge themselves and their students in new and exciting ways.

For 2007, we will offer instructional enhancement grants that focus on more rigorous approaches to enhancing student success through collaboration. Instructional enhancement grants are designed to allow four or more teachers time to plan and reflect with colleagues in order to implement changes in teaching behavior that will positively affect student success and engagement in the classroom.

The new application timeline for 2007 includes the following important dates:

• Apply by March 28, 2007

• Receive notification of grant status in May 2007

• Receive funds at beginning of 2007-08 school year

• Implement project from July 2007 – June 2008

• Participate in poster presentation in Spring 2008
